George E. Bushnell correspondence on clandestine bodies, 1961-1965
Scope and Contents
This folder contains correspondence between Bushnell and his deputies about and with clandestine groups. This folder contains letters on organizations such as the Universal Masonic Brotherhood, an African American organization not recognized by Prince Hall Freemasonry, and international organizations such as splinter Scottish Rite groups in Italy. Of particular interest is Bushnell's correspondence with the William V. Banks, founder of the International Free and Accepted Modern Masons, a progressive Masonic organization focused on racial integration, and George W. Crawford, Sovereign Grand Commander of the United Supreme Council, Prince Hall Affiliation, Nothern Jurisdiction.
