Scope and Contents

This collection, spanning from 1927-1988, contains correspondence by the Sovereign Grand Commanders of the Supreme Council, Northern Masonic Jurisdicition, with and about what they consider clandestine, or illegitimate, Masonic organizations. The majority of the collection is on African American Masonic organizations that the United Supreme Council, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, Prince Hall Affiliation do not consider legitimate. There is correspondence between the United Supreme Council and the Supreme Council of various other organizations. Also of interest is correspondence and court records on the Pennsylvania case between the Supreme Council, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, and a clandestine Masonic organization.
