Handwritten extract, "Laying the Cornerstone of New Ark [Neward]Academy" from the Gazette of the United States, published in Philadelphia, July 4, 1792. Excerpt dated 1856. The cornerstone was laid with Masonic rites. Master of St. John's Lodge addressed the President and Governors of Academy of Newark. Includes transcription of inscription of the foundation stone.
