Scope and Contents

This collection contains materials related to the celebration of the American Constitution bicentennial. The majority of the collection is non-Masonic material. There are some materials related to the Supreme Council, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction's celebration of this bicentennial.

Scope and Contents As part of his job as governor of New York, Daniel D. Tompkins was also "General and Commander in Chief of all the Militia and Admiral of all the Navy [for New York state]" according to this document. Tompkins appoints Charles Baldwin to the rank of Paymaster for the 98th Regiment of Infantry (Clark's) of New York State on March 19, 1814. Scope and Contents The Helena W. Sprague Collection is a collection containing correspondence, papers and ephemera relating to life in America before, after, and during the Civil War. The dates of the materials range from the 1700s to the early 1900s.The majority of the correspondence is from two families, the Fishers and the Frashers, who were related by marriage. A Patriotic and Educational Pamphlet issued by Fanny Farmer Candy Shops about the history of the American flag. It contains pictures and descriptions of the previous and current American flags. Also printed on the pamphlet are the song 'The Star Spangeled Banner' and a picture of the home of Betsy Ross.

Collection of essays (facsimiles) of papers given at the Boston Area Seminar in Early American History which includes such topics as "Age of the First Person Singular...", "New England Ways: Two Taditions in American Puritanism?", "Relocating Ethnicity: Educating Pennsylvania's Germans in the Eighteenth Century", and many more. Most paper are focussed on eighteenth century American life.
