Letter from Lieutenant Colonel George Wyllys to the First Regiment, 1767 August 13
Scope and Contents
Manuscript letter "To the Captains or next commanding Officers of the Several Military Companys in the first Regiment in the Colony of Connecticut, Greeting" calling the militia of this colony to equip themselves with arms for relief of Ft. Edwards, (now West Virginia) which is in danger of being attacked by the French. It is dated Hartford, 13 of August 1757 and signed by George Wyllys Lt. Col. of first Regiment.

Biographical / Historical
George Wyllys (1710-1796) was secretary of colony of Connecticut beginning 1734, later lieutenant colonel in war against the French, 1757-1767, and stayed a loyalist through the American Revolution.
