Biographical / Historical
The Knights of "Ak-Sar-Ben" was formed in March of 1895 in Omaha, Nebraska. The twelve founding men were trying to improve the Nebraska State Fair when they decided to become an official organization. They reversed the name "Nebraska" and decided to call themselves the Knights of "Ak-Sar-Ben" because they had saved the state fair. The current mission of the Kngihts of Ak-Sar-Ben is "To build a more prosperous Heartland, where communities can flourish and every child can succeed." Membership is open to everyone, regardless of age, gender, or race.
