Content Description
This postcard is a black and white lithograph of the certificate of membership for the Knights of Pythias, but in postcard form. The image includes an American flag on the left with a knight holding a shield. Above the flag is an open book and an eagle holding a banner with stars. In the center is a road leading to a castle on which there is a knight mounted on a horse. On the right is the abbreviated story of Damon and Pythias, which is the foundation store for the Knights of Pythias. Founded in February of 1864, the society is based on the principles of friendship, charity, and benevolence ("F.C.B", which is part of their emblem).
