The postcard is a collage composed of photographs of men's heads placed on drawings of bodies, set in front of a building that bears a sign for Samuel Read Lodge, K.P. No. 378, Castle Hall. Above the door is a sign that reads "Ye who enter here leave all hope behind". The men are depicted in caricature as sitting on barrels, carrying letters, carrying boxes, and wearing silly outfits.
