MA 007. Blue Lodge certificates

Master Mason manuscript certificate with grisaille watercolor by unidentified artist. Certificate issued to Jacob Rich of the Independence Lodge, No. 76, Independence, Missouri by the Grand Lodge of Missouri. Watercolor includes an arrangement of Masonic symbols probably based on Jeremy Cross' work including all-seeing eye, sun, moon, star, clasped hands, three pillars, coffin, beehive and more.

A Master Mason certificate issued by St. John's Lodge, No. 1, of Newport, Rhode Island, to Benjamin Sayer, and dated June 5, 1797. The certificate has an attached paper seal.

A Master Mason certificate issued by Union Lodge (Dorchester, Massachusetts) to Thomas Hudson. Dated February 15, 1799. Union Lodge was charted in 1796 by Grand Master Paul Revere.

Master Mason certificate issued by Cumberland Lodge, No. 12, (New Gloucester, Maine) to James L. Hatch and dated May 7, 1853.

A Master Mason certificate issued by Morning Star Lodge of Worcester, Massachusetts, to Joseph Sprague and dated April 21 1812. Imprint at the bottom of the certificate reads, "D. Raynerd Del. Saml. Hill Sculpt."

A Master Mason certificate issued to Kent Jones Owens by Evergreen Lodge No. 170, of Freeport, Illinois, and dated August 24, 1917. Imprint at the bottom of the certificate reads, "Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1895 by The Pettibone Bros. M'f'g. Co. in the Office of the Librarian of Congress at Washington. The Pettibone Bros. M'F'G. Co. Fraternity Publishers, Cincinnati, O."

A Worshipful Master certificate issued by the Grand Lodge of Maine to George W. Lowell of Harmony Lodge, No. 38, in Gorham Maine. The certificate is dated January 8, 1868, and was designed and engraved by Orramel Hinckley Throop of Portland, Maine, in 1824.
