Imprint at the bottom of the certificate reads, "Drawn and engraved by Brother Amos Doolittle. Copy right secured. The above may be had of Brothrs. Saml. Maverick, N. York, Diploma of the 3rd DEG."

A 1958 printed transcription and facsimile of the 1784 charter issued by the Grand Lodge of England to African Lodge, No. 459, the first African American or Prince Hall Masonic lodge in America. The document is hand-signed by Grand Master James R. Leseuer, M.D., the forty-sixth Grand Master of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of the State of Massachusetts.
