Scrapbook of Masonic ephemera, 1871-1881
Scope and Contents
Collection of ephemera including invitations, programs, calling cards, summons, some correspondence. The ephemera is from various states including: New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and others. Ephemera includes Scottish Rite, Knights Templar, and Blue Lodge organizations. Some material related to other fraternal organizations, GAR, etc. Bulk of material is from the 1860s through 1880s, other older material from the 1820s, 1840s and 1850s in the scrapbook. It includes one early 3rd degree certificate (not dated, but prob. 1818-1821) by Amos Doolittle, published by Henry Parmele. It appears to have been complied by Daniel Sickels (1815-1902) of New York. There is also material related to J. W. Simons (1821-1888).
