Scope and Contents
A circular letter from the Supreme Council expelling Sovereign Grand Commander Edward A. Raymond and Grand Secretary General Simon W. Robinson, dated May 22, 1862. On August 24, 1860, Sovereign Grand Commander Raymond abruptly closed the Supreme Council sine die, leading to the Schism of 1860 and the formation of two competing Supreme Councils in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, one led by Raymond and the other by Killian Van Rensselaer. It is signed in type by newly elected Sovereign Grand Commander Killian Van Rensselaer, Grand Secretary General Winslow Lewis, and Assistant Grand Secretary General Albert Case.
