A copy of a diploma issued to David Jewett in 1826 by Joseph Cerneau's Sovereign Grand Consistory. The diploma appoints Jewett as the Deputy Grand Inspector General for Brazil. The original certificate was issued in New York on November 3, 1826. This copy, dated December 22, 1865, was signed and sealed by Ruy Germack Possollo, the Grand Secretary General for the Supreme Council and Grand Orient of Brazil, Valley of Lavradio in Rio de Janeiro.

Scope and Contents

This body was named in honor of General Lafayette who recently had attended the Cerneau Supreme Council and received the 4-33 degrees (see certificate issued to George Washington Lafayette, his son) on his 1824 tour. A list of the founding members is written on the back of the charter.
