Content Description

The certificate includes the signatures of 50 Masons, many 32° and 33°, and is adorned with the double-headed eagle and a roof supported by stone columns carved with Egyptian art. It comes with a black leather pouch which is stamped with the double eagle insignia, " Supreme Council, 33°. A. & S.R., Southern Jurisdiction, U.S.A."

A 32° certificate issued by the Massachusetts Consistory to Jarius Harlow. Dated May 1, 1863. Imprint at bottom of the certificate reads, "Hammatt Billings, Designer. Smith, Knight & Tappan, Engs. Boston.” Signed by Sovereign Grand Commander Killian Van Rensselaer, Grand Secretary General Winslow Lewis, and Secretary Nathaniel B. Shurtleff.
