A copy of a diploma issued to David Jewett in 1826 by Joseph Cerneau's Sovereign Grand Consistory. The diploma appoints Jewett as the Deputy Grand Inspector General for Brazil. The original certificate was issued in New York on November 3, 1826. This copy, dated December 22, 1865, was signed and sealed by Ruy Germack Possollo, the Grand Secretary General for the Supreme Council and Grand Orient of Brazil, Valley of Lavradio in Rio de Janeiro.

The circular details the granting of charters and dispensations from a New York City-based Supreme Council (i.e. the Hays Council, with Edmund Burke Hays as Sovereign Grand Commander) and a warning to Masons not to be "deluded into joining" any subordinate bodies chartered by this clandestine Supreme Council. Dated November 1, 1862.
