Benson from the Paris Lodge, No. 94, Grand Lodge of Maine, dated, August 29, 1877 and signed by Eward P Burnham, Grand Master, with a leather wallet. Red seal of Grand Lodge of Maine on the lower left corner. Red, gold, blue ink on cream parchment. Certificate #4688.

Content Description A Civil War Masonic certificate issued by the Grand Lodge of Illinois to Corporal Phineas Lovejoy, a member of Columbus Lodge, No. 227, at Adams, Illinois. Corporal Lovejoy served in the 3rd Regiment, Illinois Cavalry, and died on August 9, 1862, onboard the riverboat White Cloud, somewhere near Memphis, Tennessee. Content Description

A Master Mason certificate issued by Lodge No. 535 of Ancient Masons "held in the Prince of Wales American Regiment and on the Register of Ireland" to Seth Fairchild and dated August 29, 1783. The Prince of Wales American Volunteers were a Loyalist regiment who fought during the Revolutionary War. These volunteers left New York in September of 1783 and set out for Nova Scotia (modern-day New Brunswick).
