Scope and Contents
Correspondence pertaining to Frank J. Herron case between Consistories of Louisiana and Chicago concerning a violation of the jurisdictional rights of the Grand Consistory of Louisiana. Frank J. Herron, a resident of New Orleans, was granted Scottish Rite degrees through 32° by the Chicago Consistory after being previously denied the 17th-18th degrees by the Pelican Chapter of Rose Croix of the Southern Jurisdiction. Authors of the letters include officers of Scottish Rite bodies from both Southern and Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, including D. M. Carr, James B. Scot, James C. Batchelor, Albert Pike, Walter A. Stevens, and Josiah Drummond. Several of the letters were grouped together as enclosures and forwarded within other correspondence.
