Scope and Contents
This circular solicits charitable donations for the Boston Seaman's Friend Society and is dated March 1831. This document contains the signature of Jonathan Greenleaf, a Mason and Congregational clergyman, as well as an endorsement of Greenleaf by Joseph Jenkins, Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts.
The Boston Seaman's Friend Society was established in 1827 and was incorporated in 1829 as a charitable religious organization formed to improve the welfare of mariners.
This copy is addressed to Harmony Lodge (Northfield, Massachusetts).
