Biographical / Historical

Thomas Smith Webb (1771-1819), known as the "Father of York Rite Freemasonry," was elected Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Rhode Island and first General Grand Master for the Encampment of Knights Templar in Massachusetts and Rhode Island in 1805. He worked as a printer, bookstore manager, and wallpaperer.
