Master Mason certificate issued to John R. Thompson by Passumpsic Lodge, No. 27, 1862 September 13
Scope and Contents
A traveling Master Mason certificate issued by Passumpsic Lodge, No. 27, of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, to John R. Thompson. Dated September 13, 1862. The certificate was published in pocket map form and is attached to a wallet. Imprint at the bottom of the certificate reads, "Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1854 by Robert Macoy in in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of New York.". There are elaborate engraving with many Masonic symbols such as altar, grapevines, globes, columns, angel, square and compass, ocean, Noah's ark, lightning, and more. There is also a light turquoise ribbon with paper yellow seal of Passumpsic Lodge. The certificate is housed in small leather case.
