There is a male figure left side of lawn. There are pencilled notes on verso: "Middlesex Chapter #64. Eastern Star Home, Orange, MA."

Biographical / Historical

This building is located at 75 East Main St., in Orange, MA and was constructed in 1903 as the home of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Wheeler. Mr. Wheeler was the president of the New Home Sewing Machine Company. The Eastern Star of Massachusetts purchased the property in 1925 and it served as a retirement home for elderly Eastern Star residents of Massachusetts until the late 1980s when the state Eastern Star organization closed the facility and it was sold at auction. In 1997, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Anderson purchased the property and upon completing restoration plan to turn it into a bed and breakfast, and at one point called it "Anderson Manor".
