Certificate from New England Associated California Pioneers '49, circa 1891
Scope and Contents
Certificate reads: "Alonzo Ledyard arrived at San Francisco California, March 17, 1845 in the good ship William C. Nye from New London Conn via Cape Horn after a tedious passage of 160 days" in manuscript. This inner circle of text and images is surrounded by vignettes showing the trip west from the east in the 1840's, including "Entering the Land of Promise"(in a covered wagon), "Rounding Cape Horn" (in a sailing ship), and "Crossing the Isthmus"(on horseback). G. G. Spurr is secretary of this organization as well as the designer.
