Scope and Contents
Scrapbook contains printing proofs made by W. N. Hughes containing over 100 Masonic calling cards collected by Hughes as well are many newspaper clippings and photographs of family and friends. The scrapbook begins with an index of his clients for his printing business.

Biographical / Historical
William N. Hughes (1843-1920?) was born in Maine and his parents were both born in Nova Scotia. He was married in 1881 to Leanora Goodwin and lived with her in Melrose, Massachusetts. He was a Knights Templar and member of Hugh de Payens Commandery in Melrose, Mass. He was a member of the Grotto as well. Hughes was a printer and was originally in business under the name of Emery and Hughes. In 1889, he started his own business and mvoed to 52 Purchase Street in Boston. He was a well known amateur fisherman and canoeist.
