Letter written by officers of Richmond Randolph Lodge No. 19 (Richmond, Virginia) certifying that Alva Spear is a Mason in good standing, having received the first three degrees in Freemasonry as well as the Mark Master, Past Master, and Most Excellent Master degrees in their lodge.
Letter on second page written and signed by Benjamin Gleason, dated Richmond, Virginia, December 1, 1819, and addressed to members of St. Paul's (Royal Arch) Chapter in Boston. In it, Gleason recommends Pearson to receive the Royal Arch degree in St. Paul's Chapter.
