Scope and Contents

Manuscript and print certificate for the ship, the "Industry," Isaac Cutter as Commander, permitting ship to travel from Boston to Aux Cayes. Document certifies that this is in fact a ship of the United States of America and asks those who encounter the ship to let it navigate waters and enter ports during its travels. Ship is laden with many goods: butter, beef, fish oil, tea, and other merchanise. It is signed by John Adams, President of the United States. The certificate is in four languages: French, Spanish, English, and Dutch.
