Biographical / Historical
James Winchester, soldier, lawyer, jurist served as a lieutenant in the 3rd Maryland regiment, 1778, prisoner of the British and exchanged, 1780, appointed judge of district court of Maryland, 1799, and appointed brigadier general, 1812.
