Independent Order of Rechabites [IOR] pledge form is a blank form printed on blue paper, verso blank. Applicant must declare age, occupation and pledge to abstain from all intoxicating liquors and to spread the principle of abstinence from all intoxicating liquors.

Biographical / Historical
The Independent Order of the Rechabites [US] was founded in New York in 1842. The society preached total abstinence and practiced secret fraternalism. Membership was limited to white men from ages 16-55. The founding of IOR paralleled the establishment of the Sons of Temperance in New York, also in 1842.
