Sepia, black and white cirkut (panorama) camera photograph shows a crowd of people in front of the Eastern Star Home. The inscription reads "Dedication Eastern Star Home/ Orange Mass. Oct. 12, 1925" ("Dedecation" spelled incorrectly on sepia print), signed "Geo H. Russell/ 23 Bridge St/ Lowell, Mass. #2536".

Biographical / Historical

The Masonic-affiliated organization for women, The Order of the Eastern Star, opened a home for the care of Masonic widows and orphans in Orange, Massachusetts, in 1925. Later it became a licensed rest home for retired Eastern Star members. While the home closed in 1992, the charitable foundation board continued to provide medical care and financial support to the elderly of the Eastern Star community.
