Manuscript letter from Franklin Pierce (1804-1869), Hillsborough, New Hampshire to John Parker Hale (1806-1873), Dover, New Hampshire. Letter is dated Oct. 17, 1836 and concerns writing a letter of recommendation for Hale's brother. Franklin Pierce was 14th president of the U.S. and John Parker Hale was a senator from New Hampshire and influenced by Pierce and other Jacksonian Democrats.
