Fisher family Daughters of Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World papers, 1939-1986
Scope and Contents
Materials include several souvenir programs from various fraternal organizations and women's auxiliary groups including the N.A.P.E and their Women's Auxiliary, Grand United Order of Oddfellows, Daughters of I.B.P.O.E.W, I.B.P.O.E.W., Lay Organization of the St. James A.M.E. Church in Cleveland, and Amaranth Grand Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star of Ohio. A souvenir journal commemorating the John Brown Memorial Farm is a notable inclusion, along with The John Brown Reader (transferred to the Library) and the Golden Jubilee Souvenir Year Book for the Daughters of the I.B.P.O.E. (1902-1952). Many programs list or are labeled with the name Mindola Fisher, some list her husband Samuel William Fisher, but many programs and a newspaper clipping date to after their deaths. The collection came from a family member, and appears to be collected papers from at least two generations of Fisher family members.
