District Lecturer Certificate, 1935
Issued to Charles F. Dickson, Lafayette Lodge, No. 52, Montezuma, Iowa
Designed by William L. Perkins (1886-1957), Chariton, Iowa
Gift of Tim Frankel, A1995/075/001
Architect William L. Perkins designed this certificate, issued by the Grand Lodge of Iowa, for District Lecturers. In the 1930s Perkins created several buildings in the art deco style—including a Masonic lodge in his hometown. Some featured sculpted stone decoration with motifs—swags, urns and stylized flowers—similar to the ones seen around the edge of this certificate. An active Mason, Perkins served as the Grand Master of Iowa from 1944 to 1946.
