Scope and Contents

The Alabama Masonry Collection spans the years of 1827-1895, with the bulk of material dating from 1845. The collection contains 9 letters, 1 envelope, 1 pamphlet excerpt, and 1 receipt addressed to Amand P. Pfister, Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge of Alabama. Of these, 5 documents regard the activities of the Knights Templar of Alabama during the1870s and early 1880s. Writers in this collection include Philip Swigert, a highly decorated Kentucky Mason and a Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky, and an assortment of Masons from the states of Alabama, Iowa, and Maine.
