This certificate is partially hand drawn and partially printed with images of railroad cars and a circle with symbols of the railway conductors' profession, including an arm with a lantern, an arm with a chain, and a hand pointing to a railroad device to couple railroad cars. It is red and black, and has an inserted photograph of J. R. Turner.

Inset into the center, as part of the architectural design of the register, are two tin-type portrait photographs, presumably of Henry Walling and his wife.
