MA 007. Blue Lodge certificates

A Master Mason certificate issued by Lodge No. 535 of Ancient Masons "held in the Prince of Wales American Regiment and on the Register of Ireland" to Seth Fairchild and dated August 29, 1783. The Prince of Wales American Volunteers were a Loyalist regiment who fought during the Revolutionary War. These volunteers left New York in September of 1783 and set out for Nova Scotia (modern-day New Brunswick).

Master Mason certificate issued by Monitor Lodge (Waltham, Massachusetts) to Leonard Percival Clifton and dated December 23, 1901. Signed by Melvin M. Johnson as the Master of Monitor Lodge. Imprint at bottom of certificate reads "J.H. Daniels & Son, Boston, Mass."

A Master Mason certificate issued by Springfield Lodge (Massachusetts) to Robert Guyer Averill and dated March 15, 1944. Imprint at bottom of the certificate reads, "John A. Lowell Bank Note Co. Boston."

A hand-written traveling Master Mason certificate issued by St. John's Lodge, No. 1, of Newport, Rhode Island, to Josiah Foster Flagg. The certificate is dated February 1, 1849. Manuscript with paper seal is in upper left hand corner.

A Master Mason certificate issued by St. John's Lodge, No. 1, of Newport, Rhode Island, to John Richards, and dated November 1797.

Master Mason certificate issued by Penobscot Lodge, No. 39 (Dexter, Maine), to Atwood J. Cobb and dated February 21, 1867. Imprint at bottom of certificate reads, "Designed & Drawn by John R. Penniman, Boston. Engraved by D. Newcomb, Portland, Maine." Blue ribbon and paper seal attached at bottom of certificate. Image on certificate is engraved and includes various symbols such as all seeing eye, Bible, square and compass and columns with mythological figures atop them.

A district lecturer certificate issued by the Grand Lodge of Iowa to Charles F. Dickson and dated February 18, 1935. Imprint at the bottom of the certificate reads, "W. L. Perkins, 1930."
