Scope and Contents
This wood engraving created by E. Rogers depicts a metamorphic image of Confederate president Jefferson Davis, meant to be read as a portrait of Davis in one direction and an image of a donkey (ass) when turned upside down. Imprint at the bottom of the document reads, "Entered, according to act of Congress, in the year 1861, by E. Rogers, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the United States, in and for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Agency in New York, 68 Cedar Street."
