Citizens of Boston, 1863 October
Scope and Contents
This broadside, created in response to President Lincoln's October 1863 call for troops, petitions the citizens of Boston to “cooperate with the public authorities in every effort for the immediate reinforcement of our armies.” The broadside was created by the Committee of one hundred and fifty citizens, a group of citizens appointed by the citizens of Boston to help lead the Commonwealth’s war efforts. Imprint at bottom of the broadside reads, “F. A. Searle, Steam Printer, Journal Building, 118 Washington Street, Boston.”
