Identifier: A2018-029-016
Scope and Contents
This patriotic business card for Caroline Rogers’ boardinghouse, “The General,” most likely served as an advertisement to soldiers and the family members of wounded Union soldiers who were housed at the nearby Soldiers' Depot at 50-52 Howard Street. Rogers’ boardinghouse was established in 1864, the year after the Soldiers' Depot was organized, and resided on Howard Street until sometime in 1866 or 1867, shortly after the Soldiers' Depot closed.
