Master Mason certificate for Robert B. Palfrey from McClellan Army Lodge, New Berne, North Carolina, 1863
Scope and Contents
Engraving has three Gothic style arches with Faith, Charity, and Hope below them. The certificate was given during the Civil War by the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts. The certificate shows that Robert B. Palfrey completed the Master Mason (or 3rd) degree in the McClellan Army Lodge on May 6, 1863. The certificate is signed by Thomas G. Whytal, Lodge Master. William B. Fowle Jr., Lodge Senior Warden. Edward Quincy, Lodge Junior Warden. and J.M. Whitney, Lodge Secretary. It is also signed by Charles W. Moore, Grand Lodge of Massachusetts Grand Secretary.
