Scope and Contents
Master Mason certificate for Joseph Walles, Jr. from Warren Lodge, Machias, Massachusetts (now Maine). The engraved design includes goddesses symbolizing Hope, Charity, and Faith with three columns as their pedestals. It is signed by George Stillman, Master, of the Warren Lodge and other officers.

Biographical / Historical
Although Paul Revere's name is not on the engraving, it is stamped "Printed and Sold opposite Liberty Stump;" Paul Revere owned the land at the corner of Newbury (Washington) and Boylston Streets opposite the Liberty Tree and referred to his shop as the "Liberty Stump" Shop.
