Supreme Council warning and declaration, 1882-1885
Scope and Contents
A warning and declaration from the Supreme Council, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, dated sometime between 1882-1885. In this document, the Supreme Council warns brethren of the wrong doing of certain persons in several States to peddle degrees for gain. The document provides a brief history of three Supreme Councils in America (Cerneau, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, and Southern Jurisdiction) and denounces the Cerneau inspired Supreme Councils of Seymour-Peckham and Thompson-Folger. The document also serves to expel several brethren who had sworn fealty to any spurious Scottish Rite body. It concludes by providing a list of officers, deputies, and active members of the Supreme Council, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction.
