Letter from Charles S. Westcott to Charles W. Moore, 1855 November 21
Scope and Contents
A letter from Charles S. Westcott to Charles W. Moore, dated November 21, 1855. In this letter, Westcott requests the Supreme Council, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, accept the petition of a group of New York City Freemasons to unify with the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. These Freemasons had previously worked under the jurisdiction of New Orleans but had recently surrendered their consistory's charter to the Supreme Council at Charleston. Westcott fears that they will join with the Cerneau inspired Atwood Council if the Supreme Council does not take action soon. Westcott also states to Moore that he wishes to reconcile his relationship with Edward A. Raymond, Sovereign Grand Commander of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction.
