Letter from Moses Holbrook to John James Joseph Gourgas, dated April 13, 1826. In this letter, Moses Holbrook, Lieutenant Commander of the Supreme Council, Southern Jurisdiction, responds that he has received Gourgas' package, which is before the Supreme Council, Southern Jurisdiction, for consideration. Topics include the defense of the Freemasonry in the newspapers and the use of "money or the black ballot" as an efficient way to control the quality of membership. Holbrook would become Sovereign Grand Commander of the Southern Jurisdiction on October 27, 1826, a few months after this letter was written.
