Scope and Contents
Robbins discusses Norton’s articles, the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts and the Grand Lodge of Illinois, Charles Griswold, the History of Masonry in South Carolina. The correspondence includes one photograph. Robbins discusses articles in the Voice, mentions R.F. Gould’s Masonic history work, Henry Bromwell, and asserts Norton’s misled research in his articles. Robbins discusses debates in articles in the Freemason’s Chronicle between Norton and others, Norton’s research on Henry Price, and work by R.F. Gould.

Biographical / Historical
Joseph Robbins was the Grand Master of Quincy Lodge, No. 296, in Quincy, Illinois from 1876-1877, and also served as its Grand Orator. He was born in 1834 and died in 1909.
