Theodore Sutton Parvin correspondence, 1871-1896
Scope and Contents
In the letters, Parvin discusses Norton’s published articles, Norton’s book and submission of a copy to the Grand Lodge of Iowa’s library, a Lexicon on Free Masonry by Dr. Mackey, Parvin’s relationship with Dr. Mackey. Parvin compliments Norton on his writing and speaking. There are two letters from Parvin’s son, Newton, an invitation to the Grand Lodge of Iowa’s 50th anniversary, and a greeting card.

Biographical / Historical
Theodore Sutton Parvin, 1817-1901, was an educator, private secretary to Iowa’s territorial Governor and Territorial Librarian. He also was active in politics serving as District Attorney for the middle district of Iowa, probate judge and clerk of the US District court. He was a professor and one of the founders of Masonry in Iowa.
