Conference of the Sovereign Grand Commanders of the Americas, Lima, 1957-1959
Scope and Contents
Series contains the records for planning, attending, and managing international conferences of the Supreme Councils and Sovereign Grand Commanders in Scottish Rite Freemasonry. Arranged chronologically, the conferences include the International Conference of Supreme Councils, Conference of European Sovereign Grand Commanders, Conference of Sovereign Grand Commanders of the Americas, Conference of English-Speaking Supreme Councils in Amity, and anniversary celebrations of Supreme Councils for various countries. Included in the international conference records are “European Trips” where the Sovereign Grand Commander of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of America visited Sovereign Grand Commanders of Supreme Councils in European countries, often in conjunction with attending the International Conference of European Sovereign Grand Commanders. Most of the conferences involve travel to Europe and South America. The series is further arranged by subseries based on year that conferences were held, from 1922 to 1999.

Much of the materials are translated into or from Spanish, French, German, Turkish, Dutch, and Italian. Some of the correspondence is also in these languages, with translations created near the time of creation.
Conditions Governing Access
Records are closed, per agreement with the donor, for fifty years after the date of their creation unless otherwise stated. Earlier records are open for research unless otherwise noted at the file level.
