Scope and Contents
In this letter to Columbian Lodge, Susanna Kelly, the widow of Joseph Kelly, petitions the Lodge for relief as she and her children await safe passage to Suriname. Kelly and her family had been prevented from rejoining her mother in Suriname by America’s adoption of an embargo and the Non-Intercourse Act of 1809.
