Content Description
This collection documents the research and creation of the film, Riding the Rails, produced by Michael Uys and Lexy Lovell, and the companion book, Riding the Rails: Teenagers on the Move during the Great Depression, by Errol Lincoln Uys. The bulk of the collection includes the questionnaires, letters, notes from telephone interviews, cassette tapes, video home system (VHS) tapes, unpublished manuscripts, and photographs received by Michael Uys and Lexy Lovell as part of their research in producing the film. Other records include the four drafts of the manuscript, research notes, summaries of the letters, and miscellaneous material produced by Errol Lincoln Uys while writing the companion book.
