Letter from David Newcomb to John James Joseph Gourgas, dated November 3, 1845. In this letter to Sovereign Grand Commander Gourgas, David Newcomb of Albany, New York, relays information necessary to complete his Grand Council of Princes of Jerusalem's return. Information includes Hiram Arnold's biographical data and his oath of fealty to the Supreme Council, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, which is attested to by David Newcomb and Giles Fonda Yates.

Master Mason certificate issued by Penobscot Lodge, No. 39 (Dexter, Maine), to Atwood J. Cobb and dated February 21, 1867. Imprint at bottom of certificate reads, "Designed & Drawn by John R. Penniman, Boston. Engraved by D. Newcomb, Portland, Maine." Blue ribbon and paper seal attached at bottom of certificate. Image on certificate is engraved and includes various symbols such as all seeing eye, Bible, square and compass and columns with mythological figures atop them.
